Walking
Scotland is an incredible place for walking in all seasons, and the Cairngorms are particularly spectacular. There are miles of waymarked trails ranging from short forest walks to long-distance routes such as the Speyside Way, as well as wilder routes through remote mountain terrain including the Lairig Ghru (to Braemar). In the winter you may see mountain hares or ptarmigan in their white camouflage, and ospreys are often heard and seen in the summer months. You can walk your dog straight from Aonach and on off-road routes towards Kingussie, Aviemore or into Glen Tromie or Feshie and beyond.
Creag Bheag
A linear out and back walk above Kingussie to the summit of Creag Bheag, with fantastic views over the Spey Valley and the Cairngorm mountains.
5 miles with a vertical ascent of 220m. Allow 2.5 hours.
Loch an Eilein
A pleasant circular walk along a clear, gently undulating path around Loch an Eilein with its ruined castle. The route connects to a network of other paths so there are plenty of options to vary your route.
3.3 miles. Allow 1.5 hours.
Cairngorm Club footbridge
Starting at the Rothiemurchus campsite in Coylumbridge near Aviemore, this route follows easy paths through forest and moorland.

Glenmore Trails
A short circular walk to the shore of Loch Morlich from Glenmore on the Cairngorm ski road.
2 miles. Allow 1 hour.
Two Lochs Trail
A gentle walk on well-made paths through pine forest taking in two beautiful lochs - Loch Garten and Loch Mallachie.
2 miles. Allow 1 hour.
Tromie Meadows
A pleasant 2.7-mile circular walk through meadows and silver birch woodland. Starting at Drumguish and incorporating parts of the Badenoch Way and the Speyside Way.
2.7 miles. Allow 1.5 hours.
The Green Lochan (An Lochan Uaine)
A varied circular walk through the scenic Ryvoan Pass to the beautiful An Lochan Uaine (Green Lochan) taking in steep rocky paths mixed with easier forest trails. There are refreshment options at the Pine Marten Bar, Cobbs Café and the National Outdoor Centre at Glenmore Lodge (evening bar meals).
Uath Lochan and Far-leitire crag
A 4.5 mile circular route in the Inshriach Forest near Kincraig that visits a high crag with magnificent views over Glen Feshie towards the Cairngorms, before descending to weave around the intriguing Uath Lochan – a series of glacial kettle holes.
