With its rugged coastlines and wild mountains Scotland is quite simply an incredible place for photography. The dark skies make the Cairngorms National Park an amazing place for astrophotography and you can practice your wildlife photography skills at the RZSS Highland Wildlife Park before seeking something more elusive! Every season brings unique opportunities with winter ice and snow, fresh green foliage in the spring, long summer evenings, and golden autumn colours.

For landscape photographers there are dramatic mountain views, accessible rugged corries, waterfalls, glens and forests. In late summer the landscape is carpeted with purple heather flowers and the autumn brings spectacular colours and darker nights with low levels of light pollution that are perfect for astrophotography.

Nature photographers will enjoy the varied bird life, from large raptors to rare crested tits, and mammals including badgers, deer, squirrels, pine marten and reindeer. There are beautiful trees, an abundance of fungi, and unusual mosses and lichens.
